What is IFS?

Internal Family Systems

The IFS Model views each of us as containing an inner ecosystem of sub-personalities or Parts. Each of our Parts has valuable qualities, each of which is designed to -- and wants to -- play a valuable role within us, even if it is not obvious until we learn what their inner logic is.

It is a gentle, creative, non-judgmental way to work with our emotions and unconscious motivations.

All Parts are welcome. There's no such thing as a bad Part.

The goal is for the Self to lead these Parts effectively in the treatment of trauma, anxiety, depression, pain, and other psychological and relational functioning.

What is EMDR?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

EMDR is effective in maximizing treatment effects for trauma and

a host of other problems and experience.

It is a form of Adaptive Information Processing to help reprocess traumatic material
that has been biochemically frozen in the nervous system.

The overall goal is to produce the most comprehensive, profound effects in the shortest period of time, while simultaneously maintaining balance within the person. EMDR addresses the emotional & cognitive realm (image, thought, emotion),

biochemical & subjective sensation (body),

and allows the inner self to direct the experience (mind & spirit).

“The speed at which change occurs during EMDR contradicts the traditional notion of

time as essential for psychological healing.”

-Dr. Bessel Van Der Kolk, Boston University
